Obituary of Elwin Berger
Dr. Elwin Berger, Greenwood Village, died peacefully June 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at The Denver Hospice. Born December 7, 1935 in Denver, CO to Mildred and Max Berger, he was raised with his younger sister Sharon. Elwin attended East High School, graduating in 1953 with a scholarship to Harvard University. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. He then continued his education at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine completing a residency and fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology. While in Baltimore, his two children, Mindy and Lisa were born after which the family moved to Denver. Upon his return to Denver, he was a founding member of The Denver Clinic, a multispecialty group practice. He practiced medicine through the end of 2001 with the last decade of his career as a teaching consultant to the Family Medicine Residency at St. Anthony’s Medical Center. During his lifetime, Dr. Berger was an active member of the Denver Rotary Club. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed reading, playing and listening to jazz and classical music, traveling, gardening and step aerobics. He was an adoring husband to Suellen Berger, a devoted father to his daughters, Mindy (Brent) Cohen and Lisa Benson, adoring stepfather to Ryan (Jennifer) Graham and Lindsey (Josh) Bard, and an involved and doting grandfather to Brittany, Shelby, and Brandon Cohen, Spencer and Oliver Thomas, and Luke, Hannah, and Karis Bard.
A graveside service will be held, Friday, 1:00pm, at Rose Hill Cemetery, a livestream will be available on Feldman Mortuary’s YouTube Channel.
