Obituary of Aileen Hammerman

Aileen Hammerman (nee Goldstein), of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 at the age of 90. She is survived by her loving children, Jan (Susan) Hammerman, Denver, Shelley (Richard) Green, and Dr. Samuel (Renea) Hammerman; sisters, Ellen (Ralph) Levin and Natalie (late Dr. William) Feinblum; and adored grandchildren, Laura (Jason) Berlinberg, Tamara Hammerman, Hannah (Kasun) Perera, Michaela Green, Noah Hammerman, and Rebecca Hammerman. Aileen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Cantor Saul Zelick Hammerman; sister, Beverly (Jerome) Levinson; and parents, Hilda and Maurice Goldstein.

For 60 years Aileen was a fixture at Beth El Congregation in Baltimore MD, working tirelessly alongside her husband and the congregation's rabbis to grow the reputation, size, and quality of the Beth El community. She will long be remembered for her style, her humor, her zest for life, and her love for her congregation.

Aileen visited Denver a number of times generally for family simchas.  She worshipped at Rodef Shalom, HEA, and Temple Sinai.  Mom was elated by Colorado's physical beauty and the vibrancy of its Jewish Community.  She (almost) understood why Jan and Susan had relocated from the East Coast over thirty years ago.

A local memorial service will be held at the home of Jan and Susan Hammerman in the near future.
