Devora (Dore) Leiser died peacefully in her home of 63 years on November 8, 2022, surrounded by her children and one of her grandchildren.

Dore was born July 17, 1929, in Oakland, California, to Isaak and Sylvia Kaplan. She had a younger sister, Nancy Medvedy, who preceded her in death.
She graduated in 1951 from the University of California, Berkley, with a degree in Business, and began working for IBM (also known as “I’ll Be Moved”). She was transferred to Denver, Colorado, and met her future husband, Chester Leiser, due to a wrongly-dialed telephone number. They married in 1954, and had two children, Jeffrey and Sharon.
Dore was a strong supporter of family, community, and women’s causes, a savvy investor, and one of the founders of The Women’s Bank. She was also a long-time member of Hadassah, League of Women Voters, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and BMH-BJ Synagogue, and contributed widely to charitable organizations.
Dore’s favorite pastime was gardening, and her house and the surrounding yard manifest that. She also loved wirehaired dachshunds, and she and Chester showed several of them to their championships.
Dore is survived by her children, Dr. Jeffrey Leiser, Indianapolis, IN, and Sharon Leiser, Esq., Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Abraham, Tzirel, and Margalit Leiser; and one of her champion dachshunds, Ruby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yeshiva Toras Chaim, Friends of Man, Food Bank of the Rockies, or the charity of your choice.
