Obituary of Benita Weingart Newman

Benita Weingart Newman died peacefully on January 5, 2023.

Benita, was born in Denver, Colorado to Jake Weingart and Leah Barmatz Weingart. Bebe was the second of four children; the younger sister of Melvyn Weingart and the older sister of Steven and Roslyn Weingart. She attended Cheltenham School, Lake Jr. High, and North High School. Upon graduation from North, Bebe got a job with State Farm Insurance and remained with the company for over 40 years, retiring in a senior management position; the only job she ever had.

Bebe married Harvey Newman on May 21, 1966  and they remained married for 55 years   until Harvey's death on  January 31, 2022. Bebe was a very sociable and energetic person and she and Harvey spent a great deal of time taking driving trips from coast to coast. They also traveled to Europe on a number of occasions and Bebe took great delight in 1992, personally traveling to Israel to attend the Bar Mitzvah of her great-nephew, Ethan Weingart, in Jerusalem.

Bebe's family was the most important thing in her life. She and Harvey had no children of their own; however, she treated her nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews with unlimited love and generosity; they were constantly on her mind and she never hesitated to communicate her personal feelings to them all.

Benita is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Mel and Sandy (Snyder) Weingart and her sister, Roslyn Weingart Denson.

She also is survived by nephews Lon Weingart (John Mooney), Dan Weingart (Amy Sugarman), Josh Weingart, Robin (Jim Qualls), Austin Robert Denson, Tracy Denson. In addition, great nieces and nephews, Ethan, Claire and Lindsay Weingart; Jacob (Haley) Neitzel, Taylor (Lucas) LeGrand, Jordan Denson, Madison (Joe) Appelbaum, Austin Jake (Shelby) Denson, Jayce Denson. Great great, great niece and nephew Jalen Michael Denson and Aaliyah Marie Denson-Shelley.

The Weingart family is eternally grateful to Bebe's devoted and loving caregivers and to Lee Rudofsky.
