Obituary of Edward Lampert
Edward valiantly battled Multiple Myeloma for 18 years and surpassed all odds, but our beloved father, Edward S. Lampert finally rejoined Raeann, his wife, his “Honeybun” of 71 years, in the bonds of everlasting life. He passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 92, in his home surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and dedicated caregivers.
Ed, an only child, was born on Mother’s Day, May 11,1930 at Mercy Hospital to Ann Greenberg Lampert and Benjamin P. Lampert.
Growing up, he was a Boy Scout, paperboy, a tinker and builder of things in his workshop. In addition, as a magician, he loved to work parties and he got so much joy entertaining the guest with his magic.
Ed was an avid traveler, and cruises were his favorite mode of transportation. He loved to take pictures of everything, and he throughout his whole life maintained a child-like curiosity for everything. He loved electronics of all kinds, especially his multitude of transistor radios.
He attended Dora More Elementary, Morey Jr. High and East High school where he joined the ROTC. He met his wife through BBYO and went to the University of Denver where he joined the Phi Sig Delta Fraternity.
Ed married Raeann Burg on Nov 25, 1951. People would always ask him the secret to a long marriage, his response was always “I give, and you take.”
Throughout the years, Ed and Raz would always coordinate their outfits, often buying matching accessories. This is only a small example of how they were team in everything they did, including twice a year making horseradish together with matching goggles.
Ed and his buddies joined the Colorado National Guard for three years before his unit was drafted into the Korean War. Fortunately, they were stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Norman, Oklahoma. His duty station was in the power unit, where they were tasked with bringing electricity to new military bases.
Upon return to Denver, he joined his mother, Ann Lampert in the Real Estate business in 1948. In 2003 Ed was granted the title of relator emeritus for his 50 years of service to the industry. He was passionate about helping his community thrive and was listed as 5280 magazines top relator from 2011-2021. Ed went out of his way to ensure that he was never selling houses, only homes.
Every Wednesday, Ed and a group of doctors would go skiing. He passed on his love of skiing to his kids.
The legacy that Ed leaves behind, is the way he lived his life: No matter who you are dealing with in life, you can be polite, have integrity, be honest in your dealing, be cheerful, and regardless of what life throws at you remember the glass is always half full.
Ed is survived by his three children Mark (Ruth) Lampert Lee (Pati) Lampert Vicki -Bluma (Neil) Olesky and Eight grandchildren: Mara (Nathaniel) Singer, Aleeza (Marco) Zocchi, Robert Lampert. Micah (Lona) Olesky, Leandra Olesky, Hyla Olesky, Sefrah (Noah) Werner, Avraham Olesky.
Donations can be made to Hebrew Educational Alliance, Aish of the Rockies or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
