Obituary of Aileen Marcus
Aileen was born on the west-side of Denver in October 1924. She later moved to the east-side with her parents, Reuben and Anna Axler and graduated East High in 1941.
Aileen attended the University of Colorado in Boulder between 1941 and 1945. She loved studying history and majored in accounting. She was devoted to her studies and with the aid of her photographic memory, achieved such high grades that she was made a member of the honorary accounting fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma, which had very few women members. In 1945 she graduated with honors.
In 1950 she met and married Marvin Marcus and raised two sons; Jeff and Fred. She was happily married for 63 years; enjoying 30 years of active travel and cruises with her husband after he retired.
Aileen survived her husband Marvin who passed away in 2013. Since then, she has lived independently, effectively managed family assets and has been an amazing support for her sons and wonderful friend to many.
She was kind, highly intelligent, and cared deeply for her family and friends. She demonstrated strength, character, and love throughout her life.
Aileen was a devoted daughter, wife and mother who will be truly missed by those that were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her two sons, Fred, and Jeff, and daughter in law Rosemary Marcus. She was the matriarch of a much larger family of cousins, nieces, and nephews who all truly loved her.
