I was close friends with Lina for several decades. Before she traveled to Colorado, the building that Lina and Don lived in, burnt down. She contacted me and I wanted Don and Lina to stay at my house. I, also, called CJE to find senior housing. But she never returned my call. Now, I know that they stayed near their son in Colorado. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Lina's death. She taught at Oakton Community College and taught in the prisons like I did. She was close friends with me and my late husband, Richard Van Duyne. We loved her amazing humor. We would meet for lunch and laugh so much. I loved Lina and Don--we were dear friends. My condolences to her entire family. I would like to pay tribute to the best mother in law a girl could ever have. I've had the pleasure of knowing Lina for 21 years. Crazy enough that is the exact same amout of time I had with my own mom before she passed in 98'. The memories I have with Lina will always be treasured in my heart. She was my thrift store shopping buddy. Lina would drop everything she was doing to just spend time with me. The long talks we had about the past, present, future, life and death were some of the most amazing conversations we had. Especially within the last 6 months when she and her loving husband Don moved to Colorado. Lina, I love you so very much and I will.miss you everyday. Before her passing I made her a promise that I would look after and protect her son and my loving husband Jeremy, Don and Tasha. She can rest assured that my promise will never be broken. My darling Lina, I love you so much and will miss you everyday. Please say hello to my mom and let her know I love and miss her so much. Rest in peace Lina and just know that this is not goodbye, but see you later in the future. Laurie

I have many fond memories of spending time with Lina, Don, Jeremy and Tasha in Montreal when our kids attended the same nursery school. Lina and I met when my son, Aaron, asked if Jeremy could come to our house to play after school and we became good friends. We would meet at McDonalds every week so the kids - Jeremy, Tasha and my three - Rebecca, Aaron and Andrew, could play in the fabulous playground. Lina loved swimming so we both joined a club where we could take the kids but we would also have some girl time alone. We always had fun. It turns out that Lina and I were both in the Jewish General Hospital at the same time. My son was born on April 11 and Jeremy was born on April 13 so I think we were destined to become friends. We kept in touch by email and occasional phone calls. I wish that we could have have seen more of each other in person. Lina was a unique person and my condolences go out to Don, Jeremy and Tasha and her entire family. May all your memories be a blessing. Margaret Thomas

Lina was in Painting at Oakton College for several semesters. Her work went beyond painting and included experiments with diverse materials. Her work was in alignment with a beautiful world. She was always inspiring and positive. Lina was willing to listen to many ideas and perspectives. She asked great questions and had life experience enough to suggest but not dictate answers that respected everyone. When she was deeply into her work at times, she would hum musical bits and pieces.

Lina was a colleague and a dear friend who was a beloved counselor at Regina Dominican High School, an all-female institution in Wilmette, IL. She was professional, knowledgeable, and a lifelong learner. The students gained a deeper awareness of the Jewish faith as Lina took great delight in telling stories of her Jewish heritage. Lina had a loving heart and leaves a lasting legacy. My condolences to Don and the family.

Although I spent the last 48 years living in AZ and not seeing Lina, my first Cousin, for many many years I do remember many great years spending time with Lina in Chicago with her wonderful fun brothers on Sundays and on Holiday dinners. Lina was always a caring and loving person and the world will miss her. May she Rest In Peace. Harold Klinger and Family.
