Obituary of Carol Carlblom Weiner

Carol Rae Carlblom was born in Lisbon, North Dakota, with her twin sister Connie, on March 31. Carol spent her youth in Lisbon, on a farm, with her parents Lloyd and Edna (Frigen) Carlblom, her older brother John and sister Connie. After graduating from Lisbon High School, she wanted to pursue a different career choice helping others and enrolled in nursing school at Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, ND. Eventually she made her way to Denver, Colorado, continued her nursing career at Saint Joseph Hospital as an Emergency Room nurse. She met her future husband, Dr. Gareth Weiner at Saint Joseph Hospital and eventually they were wed in 1993. In 1995, Carol and Gareth were blessed with their only child, Rachel Elizabeth, who was recently married at The Broadmoor to Alec Willrodt this past New Year’s Eve.

Carol then volunteered her nursing skills for 7 years as camp “Nurse Carol” at Shwayder Camp, just outside of Idaho Springs.  She was an avid neat freak, spent her free time finding “unique treasures” at estate sales, playing Mahjong with her close friends, traveling and skiing.  She notoriously loved lobster and chardonnay.  Carol mostly enjoyed spending her summers with Rachel at her sister’s lake cabin in Minnesota (with plenty of sunscreen)!  She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother to her husband, daughter, and beloved dog Daisy.

In 2012, she was unfortunately diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Carol successfully completely treatments in 2012 and did well for 8 years until the tumor returned, causing significant daily issues.  Numerous additional radiation, chemotherapy and surgical treatments were performed, including many ICU admissions at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Hospital over the past 2 years for ongoing complications.  On March 5, 2023, she lost her long battle from complications of the brain tumor and passed away peacefully, 3 weeks after her 30th wedding anniversary, surrounded by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and twin sister.

Carol is survived by her brother John Carlblom, sister Connie Ness, husband Gareth Weiner, daughter Rachel Weiner, son-in-law Alec Willrodt and numerous family members and friends.

Carol was preceded in death my her parents, her father-in-law Dr. Norman Weiner, her sister-in-law Patty Carlblom, brother-in-law David Weiner and her faithful dog Daisy.
