Obituary of Bruce Somers

Bruce Somers passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023.  Born on April 19, 1950, he was the son of Betty and Bernard Somers; twin brother of Stuart who predeceased him in 2009 and his survived by his brother Joel and sister Sandy.  In addition, he leaves behind his nephew Jeff and nieces Amy, Sarah and Rebeccah.

Born and raised in Denver, Bruce graduated from George Washington High School in 1969 and attended Western State College.  After a successful but brief career in the oil and gas industry, he moved to Carbondale in 1996 and began an accounting career that began in Aspen and lasted 27 years.  He retired from the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority in 2021.

Bruce made the most of his life while enduring several illnesses.  He was an active member of the Carbondale community in many areas and hosted the “BS Jazz Hour” on KDNK for several years.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Graveside service will be held at the Emanuel Cemetery on Friday, March 17, 2013 at 11:45 am.  Donations can be made to the ALS Association or to a charity of choice.
