Obituary of Betty Jaffe
Betty Rae (Kark) Jaffe, 86, passed away in her home in Denver, Colorado on March 21, 2023.
Betty was born in Pueblo, Colorado on May 7, 1936 in Pueblo, Colorado, to Hyman and Rose (Borinsky) Kark. She attended Centennial High School in Pueblo. Betty went to the University of Colorado where she met Leon Jaffe in her first month there. They were married a little over a year later on December 31, 1955. They spent the first years of their marriage in Fort Carson and then in Germany where Leon was stationed in the army. After that, they moved to Pueblo for many years before moving to Denver.
Betty was an active member of the National Council of Jewish Women. She took part in their Children’s Traveling Theater playing many roles like the Cowardly Lion, the White Rabbit and Tweedle Dee and Dumb, to name a few. She was also in a play, Hotel Baltimore, at Bonfil’s Theater and was an extra in the movie Die Hard.
Betty enjoyed many activities including painting, traveling, reading, theater, music, dancing and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leon Jaffe, her daughter, Cindy (Joe Ortiz) Yabrove, her son, David (Tracy) Jaffe, as well as her grandchildren, Hannah (Brian Rosner) Yabrove, Zoe Yabrove, Jessie (Ryan Flageolle) Jaffe, Zach Jaffe, and great-grandchildren, Eddie and Dylan Rosner. She is also survived by her daughter, Jody Jaffe (Gary Knoller) and her son, Allen Jaffe and their children, Abra Lipsitz, Sarah (Ben) Flicker, Max Lipsitz, Aubrey DeClercq, Ward Jaffe, Dustyn Jaffe and great-grandchildren, Naomi, Summer, Logan and Taya.
