Thank goodness for Harriet's sense of humor. She was a serious, talented woman, at times tough minded and yet, with a tenderness and generous capacity for laughter. There was a deep caring for family and causes that she and Paul were committed to--with such a grounding in what was practical and appropriate. She dealt so well with significant physical imbalance in later years, yet was not overwhelmed by it. What was then most apparent was a more profound balance, emotionally and cognitively. She faced what needed to be done with open mindedness. While seeking to get to the bottom of something that didn't work, she had amazing patience. She had impressive determination with skills of organizing her life, taking responsibility for the larger issues as well as the details. At the heart of things, Harriet had a loving nature and a precious sense of humor. We were fortunate every time we got to enjoy her company.
With sincere condolences to her family,
