Janet and I were close friends for over 60 years. I am bereft. I feel as if a chapter of my own life has closed. Janet was such a gifted person—early in life she had the knack of friendship; she was very bright, inquisitive and creative; and she had a determination to pursue her dreams. A talented writer, she built a successful career as a print journalist at a time when garnering recognition as a reporter was hard fought. She worked on many publications as both reporter and editor —including first at the Jewish News, then the Colorado Statesman, and later at the Rocky Mt News—at the News she won awards for her headline-writing skills and parlayed her shopping column into a book. She was an intellectual, a voracious reader, a big music fan, always a bargain hunter, and a dog lover. She was an exceptional mother to 2 wonderful, intelligent children who themselves love family. She was devoted to her religious life, family and friends. I will greatly miss her.
