Obituary of Donna Jean Maron

The Exceptional Wife, Nana/Mom, Sister and Aunt entered to rest on July 4, 2023, at age 78. Beloved wife of Barry Maron, MD. Devoted mother of Martin S. Maron, MD, husband of Alexandria Maron and Bradley A. Maron, MD, husband of Jill Maron, MD. Cherished grandmother of Alexis Maron, Jack Maron, Willow Maron and Bodhi Maron. Loving sister of David and Ricki Rest and Lynne Rest. Wonderful aunt of Joshua and Lorinda Rest, Jennifer and Mathew Oman, Spencer and John Anagnost. Dear daughter of the late Arthur Rest, MD and Florence Rest.

Donna grew up in Denver, Colorado and lived in many other places, including Rockville, MD, Washington, DC, Palo Alto, CA, Baltimore, MD, New Orleans, LA, Madison, WI, Minneapolis, MN and Boston, MA. Donna graduated from George Washington H.S., San Francisco State College (B.A.) and University of Maryland (MSW).

She was truly selfless, dedicating her life to supporting and nurturing her family. She never missed a school pick-up, game, swim meet or any of her children's or grandchildren's events. She was flawless in her dedication to their wellness, success, and happiness. She was also a tireless confidant to them, as she was to so many others; often the first person to call for advice, reassurance and guidance, and asked for nothing in return. Beloved from beginning to the very end by her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members, she dedicated herself to motherhood.

Donna was kind and warm throughout her life and became a reminder to those around her of what is good in the human spirit. Her impact on others in that regard could never be properly depicted in words. Donna was in fact the matriarch of an impactful Boston medical family with both sons, and husband, cardiologists. She loved Martha's Vineyard and Palm Springs, CA, where she spent considerable time. She cherished every minute spent at her house, "Nana House," on the Vineyard- Chappaquiddick for 40 summers. She was widely considered a world-class nana and mom.

Funeral Service for Donna was held at Martha's Vineyard Hebrew Center, July 19, with Interment at the Martha's Vineyard Hebrew Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Donna's memory to Martha's Vineyard Community Foundation, P.O. Box, 243, West Tisbury, MA, 02575. Please indicate in the memo line that the donation is for the Chappaquiddick Community Center (CCC) Fund in Memory of Donna Maron.
