Obituary of Mindy Susan Quiat

Mindy Quiat, daughter of the late Doris and Jerry Bloom, passed away on October 6, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Born in New York City, she spent her early years in Merrick, New York before moving to Hollywood, Florida and graduating from Hollywood Hills High School in 1974.  Mindy graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and then a Juris Doctorate. Throughout these years, Mindy was an adventurous and smart student, a cheerleader, and a loyal friend.

Mindy married the love of her life, Laurin Quiat, on March 18th, 1984. They moved to Denver in 1985.  Mindy and Laurin raised three loving sons, who always looked on her as the strongest rock of their family. She was a strong skier, and was active in the community, following her interests in the arts and supporting many local organizations. She was an avid lover of animals, big and small, and always had at least one cat living with her. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the theatre and all types of live music, and loved attending outdoor concerts throughout the country. She found peace sitting on the beach and entertaining friends at her home. Mindy’s adventurous spirit drove her love for travel and a strong desire to always have new experiences with her family and wide circle of friends.

Mindy is survived by her husband Laurin, her children Daniel (Lauren), Samuel, and Adam. She is also survived by her sister Lisa Smith (Howard), Michael Bloom (Candice) and her cousins Tara Martin (Brian) and Marcia Gordon (Jerry).
