Obituary of Michael Jasper

Michael Harris Jasper. January 5, 1941-November 16, 2023
November 16, 2023, a beautiful autumn day, Mike Jasper passed away peacefully
surrounded by his beloved family at his home in Denver, Colorado. His cause of death
was Lewy Body Dementia.

Mike was born January 5, 1941 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Myer Jasper and Irene
(Sharpiro) Jasper. Massachusetts varying geography instilled a deep appreciation and
love of the outdoors in Mike from a young age. Along with his older sister, Susan, the
family spent summers on Good Harbor Beach, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Some of
Mike’s earliest memories were of hanging out with his cousins on Good Harbor Beach,
body surfing with cousins-Joey Kangisser, Jimmy Rome, and his dog/best friend—
Patrick. He also started to play tennis, at Bass Rocks Country Club— his cousin,
Connie Fisher was his tennis partner.

Mike went to Worcester Academy and was captain of the tennis team. He went on to
study at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and earned his Bachelor of
Science. Though his college years he played number one on the tennis team. He only
lost three matches in his four years at Philadelphia College, which is now known as
Thomas Jefferson University.

He was a life long entrepreneur and business owner. His favorite position was
President of the Worcester Woolen Mills —a family based business started by his
father.

Mike is survived by his sister, Susan Kauffman: His wife Betsy Barnhart Jasper, Wes
Barnhart: Stephanie Jasper and Joe Jasper from his second wife Betsy Eager: Mark
(Sharon) Jasper and Rachel (Eric) Boylestad from his first wife Marilyn Lederman.
Grandchildren, Hannah Jasper, Sammie Boylestad and Lindsay Boylestad. All of
whom he passed on his love of tennis, skiing, hunting, fishing, cooking, the Boston
Red Sox and ice cream.

Mike found himself at home, no matter where he was, from the shores of the East
Coast, to the Big Skies of Montana, to the Mountains of Colorado, there was always
something for him. It is with a sad heart we say goodbye, but your spirit lives on, as
will our love for you.

Thanks for the Adventure!
