Obituary of Audrey Zimmerman

Audrey Pearl Zimmerman (née Isenstein, "Audie" to her grandkids and great grandkids) passed away on December 15th, four months after the death of Sherwin, her beloved husband of 73 years. Audrey was the matriarch of the Zimmerman family, and her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and dogs (and granddogs and great granddogs) were her pride and joy. She is survived by her children: Roy, Paul (Diane), and Gary (Peggy); grandchildren, whom she called "Pooh" and the order inwhich they joined the family: Lisa Zimmerman - Pooh #1, Jill Pinsky - Pooh #2 (Michael - Pooh #8), Alex Zimmerman - Pooh #3, Erica Edewaard - Pooh #4 (Kyle - Pooh #9), Paige Hauser - Pooh #5 (Michael - Pooh #10), Andrew Zimmerman - Pooh #6, and Jordyn Zimmerman - Pooh #7; and great grandchildren: Aaron Pinsky – Pooh Pooh #2, and Remy Hauser - Pooh Pooh #3. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sherwin; brother Marvin Isenstein, sister Miriam Gross and great grandson, Asher Pinsky – Pooh Pooh #1, and her beloved dogs and granddogs: Alfie, Max, Kirby, Fletcher, Louie, Mac, and Quinn. Bailey, Pepper and Brooks are already missing their doggy ice cream treats. She was also loved by her nephews, nieces and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

As a little girl, growing up in Chicago, Audrey idolized her big brother and sister; as the baby of the family, she got only hand-me-downs and carried around a one-eyed doll. She and Sherwin met when she was 17 years old and built an incredible life together. They raised their family In Highland Park, IL until Sherwin's job took them to Denver, where they lived for over 45 years. Sherwin's job took them across the world, and they continued adventuring together throughout their retirement. Audrey's favorite place she ever visited was India because she loved the spicy food! Audrey and Sherwin shared their love of travel with their family, taking the entire crew on an epic 50th wedding anniversary cruise in Europe and gifting each grandchild a 13th birthday trip of their choice. Audrey's other passion was shopping: she loved to find a deal, believed if you like something you should buy it in every color, and loved picking out clothes for her daughters-in-law and granddaughters. Audrey will be remembered by her friends and family for her fierce bridge game, her love of sweets (especially ice cream and Diane’s Blondies), her quick wit and sense of humor, and most of all, her joy and pride in her family.

May Audrey’s memory be for blessing.

We miss you!

The family will honor her memory privately.
