Obituary of Ellen Brown

Ellen Brown and her late twin brother, Benji Freedberg were born in Denver Colorado to Samuel Charles Freedberg and Ida Jeanette Freedberg. They had two older brothers, Donald and Allen Freedberg.

Ellen was the mother of two girls Roseann and Jonie. She lost the love of her life early in their marriage, and became a devoted single mother who would do anything for her children. Most often working several jobs and doing volunteer work so her girls could have a good education, knowledge of their Judaism, and partake in activities that with one job would be impossible.

Ellen had a true passion for cooking. She poured her heart into her food. She would cook for your soul, not for your mouth. Even if you were to use her own recipes you could not recreate what she had mastered.

She loved the arts. Ellen would always sing in the house, even if she was always off key. She was such an amazing dancer. She encouraged her children to sing and play instruments. When she was younger and still had use of her hands she would paint, she would needlepoint, she would sew, make kippahs, barrettes, and any other crafty thing she could get her hands on. Her love for arts extended to collecting as well. She loved statues, figurines, and paintings they would be all over the house displayed like only she could.

Ellen had a love for making people happy. She had such an amazing sense of humor and the silliest laugh . She had her own language where she would accidentally jumble words and point at things to the point her arms would be flailing around her . Even though she never did this on purpose, we would always laugh together trying to figure out what she was trying to say.

Ellen was the most genuine and loving person you could meet. Her smile would light up the entire room. She would never give up on anyone. She was the greatest listener and had great advice.

Ellen was the most beautiful daughter, sister, mother, auntie, Bubbe, friend and teacher. The most important thing to Ellen was her family. She is survived by her brother Allen Freedberg. Her daughter Roseann Brown and her four children Mimi, Gerald, Naavah and Naomi. And her daughter Jonie Drake, her husband Jonathan Drake and their son Robert.
