Obituary of Michael Turner
Michael Turner, born December the 11th, 1946 in Munich Germany. Son to Sigmund and Natalie Turner, holocaust survivors. Michael grew up outside Boston, Massachusetts.
He attended Yeshiva in his formative years as well as attending Northeastern University and ultimately gaining a master’s degree in city planning from The University of Illinois.
Michael was well traveled, visiting destinations around the world for both work and pleasure. He lived and worked in urban planning in Rotterdam, Holland as well as leading the redesign of Greektown in Detroit Michigan, where he met his wife of 52 years Marilyn Turner. While in Michigan, he became an avid yachtsman, crewing weekends on a friend’s yacht.
Michael and Marilyn purchased a boutique recruiting firm in Denver in the late 1970’s. They owned and operated that firm until 2022, working side by side as partners. His son Zachary joined the family business in late 2005, where Michael and Marilyn taught him their chosen vocation, one that he still works in to this day.
Michael practiced the tenets of life that he believed in most, generous with both his time and money, he was a true Mench and Tzedek in the purest sense.
Ultimately Michael passed from ALS on Thursday the 1st of February 2024. He fought until the very end and was able to celebrate the birth of his only grandchild, Jetta Elisabeth Turner. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Turner, son and daughter in law Zachary and Brette Turner, and granddaughter Jetta Turner.
