I am just gutted to hear of the recent passing of my longtime friend David Friedman — truly one of my favorite people. We first met through some mutual friends at Le Petit Gourmet back in the late seventies, and then in the mid-eighties we worked together at the Gooch & Wagstaff commercial real estate firm. Though our paths diverged over time, they would occasionally intersect again, and a lunch with David was a treasured day, indeed. I think what I admired about him most was that for such an accomplished guy who was certainly not lacking in self-confidence, he was never cocky and always retained a self-deprecating sense of humor and perspective. I will miss him terribly. Sending love and light to Michelle, Jordan, Jack, and David’s entire family.

To the dear family of David: My deepest condolences to all of you. I did not know David, but was secretary to Sheldon (Shel) in Denver when he was with Cortez & Friedman. I knew Ellen briefly. Shel & Ellen were ALWAYS so kind & generous to me. I cannot imagine the loss you are suffering losing a child. Michelle, losing your husband & best friend has to be the most devastating experience. I am truly saddened by this tragic news!
Sincerely with Love,
Marti Hill

Michelle,
I am so heartbroken to hear this news of David. He was truly one of the lights in Don and my lives. I have the most wonderful memories of our Top Producer trips because David was always at the center of all the fun. Having lost my Don not too long ago, I can try to help you shoulder this incredibly difficult journey. I am with you in love and in the most wonderful memories of your brilliant husband.

Was SO sorry to hear about David's passing. It's been a few years since I last saw him. Every time I did, we did nothing but laugh at each other's silly (witty, we thought...) humor. He passed way too young. He was just a great guy. I'm truly sad for his family's loss.

I continue to just sit here and stare at my computer because I cannot believe David has left this life for the next. I am truly heartbroken and sad. The Friedmans' and Finks' moved into their new houses across the street from each other on South Elm Court 55 years ago. David and I were in 1st grade. We became friends quickly because we both loved to play. We had a long list of activities we enjoyed playing together, football, basketball, Nerf dodgeball in the basement, ping-ping, shooting pool, wiffle ball, tv tag, 500, kick the can, capture the flag, soccer, etc, etc. Heck, we even played each other in JACKS!!! Who says that outloud?? The only issue David and I had is he usually beat me in our one on one matchups!! I'm still bitter about this. : -). David was a fabulous neighborhood friend. I loved the time we spent together playing the games. As we got into high school, David picked up a tennis racket and I picked up a baseball glove. We both focused on different activities from high school on, but I have never forgotten the fun we had together and how much we enjoyed the games we played. The Friedmans' and Finks' still live across the street from each other and every time I go to my mom's house and drive by the Friedmans' house, I smile and think of David, his life, his family. I always think of the happiness he brought into my life. The memories are vivid and joyful. I am truly blessed to have grown up across the street from David. Michelle, Jordan, and Jack, I loved the fun David brought my life. I am heartbroken for you. Shell, Ellen, and Brad, thank you for everything you have brought my life and my heart aches with sadness for you. David was a special person. He brought light into the lives of many.

David was truly very special and an incredibly funny person. I was lucky to the fly and to college with him and drive home after graduation. So many memories including being in Michelle and David's wedding in a horrible snow storm, being the only groomsman with a job. They were a great couple. I am so lucky to have reached out and had recent lunches with David. In addition to cook an Italian dinner with both David and Michelle. I loved our 50+ year friendship. My best to your family during this difficult time. DAVID WAS A TRUE MENCH AND ONE OF A KIND.

Dear Michelle, Jordan and Jack - I just heard today and was heartbroken. I can’t really put into words.
We’re so sorry for your loss. David was amazing, truly one of a kind, extremely generous, with a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He was one of my first customers 20+ years ago and soon became a great friend, offering me lots of good advice over the years and I always enjoyed his good natured ribbing and our conversations together. I will miss him dearly and remember him always.
