Obituary of Melvin Harold Weiner, MD
Greenwood Village, CO
Mel Weiner, a well-known pediatrician and avid tennis player, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2024.
Mel was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He received his BA degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his MD degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1967. His pediatric internship and residency were at Denver Children's Hospital. He completed a Fellowship in developmental and behavioral pediatrics at the JFK Child Development Center at University Hospital. Mel began his pediatric practice as one of the founding partners of Littleton Pediatrics. He practiced there for over 35 years, and then with his daughter Jill at Colorado Medical Group for the last 11 years of his career. He retired in 2019.
Mel's outside interests were reading, tennis, biking & hiking, as he enjoyed the outdoor life available in the Colorado mountains.
Mel is predeceased by his parents Samuel and Rose Weiner of Detroit, Michigan, and by his previous wife, Barbara Wessel Weiner.
Mel is survived by his wife, Patricia Weiner, his brother, Larry Weiner, his children, Marc (Kelli) Weiner and Jill Weiner Norris and his grandchildren, Max Weiner, Ben Weiner, Lily Norris, and Marc Norris.
A Celebration of Mel's life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 (1:00-4:00pm), at the Clubhouse of Bateleur at the Preserve, 137 Blue Heron Dr., Greenwood Village, CO 80121.
Contributions in Mel's memory may be made to the USTA Foundation's National Junior Tennis and Learning program.
