I worked with Joan at the Brighton Collectibles store in Belmar. Enjoyed the time spent with her. We had many conversations about cats, it was clear that she loved them. Joan had a great laugh! I am happy to have known her. My condolences to her family and friends.

It was my honor to have met Joan Ogner, an unwavering advocate for animals, during my tenure as a veterinary assistant at VCA Aspenwood off Colorado Blvd. Our paths crossed serendipitously when Joan brought her beloved cat Rocky for a visit, sparking an immediate bond over our shared dedication to animal welfare. That day, after a conversation that touched my heart deeply, Joan extended an invitation to me for a No Kill Colorado fundraising event, a gesture that would pivot my life towards activism.
Despite relocating away from the Denver area in 2016, my connection with Joan never waned, thanks to the vibrant community of Colorado Cats in Need on Facebook, through which we continued to share our journeys and triumphs in animal advocacy.
Joan Ogner was a true hero in every sense, whose light shone brightly on the lives she touched, both human and non-human. Her legacy is a testament to the profound impact one individual can have on the world. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the enduring brightness she brought into our lives, a light that will continue to illuminate the path for animal advocates everywhere. Joan's spirit lives on in every life she touched, every cause she championed, and in the ongoing work of those inspired by her passion. The world was, indeed, made infinitely brighter by her presence and will continue to glow with her light eternally.

Joan offered me hospitality for four years when I sang for the High Holy Days in Denver. We became friends and I admired her so much for her courage; I learned so much from her about being a single woman. I will really miss her sense of humor and her devotion to cats.

I am so sorry that we lost Green's dearest Auntie Joan, she has been the biggest supporter for me to take care of my diabetic Green whenever I was away from home and whenever Green was battling diabetes and many other illnesses such as IBS and cancer. She cared for Green deeply and loved her as her momma and auntie. Joan was such a compassionate person who helped thousands of animals through her volunteer work and her facebook group Colorado Cats in Need. I will miss her deeply and my heart is shattered by her loss. Yet, I know so many animals, that she touched their lives, Tiger and Green are so happy to see their momma and auntie, and she reunited with all of her loved ones.

Joan, what can I say? I had the pleasure of meeting you several years ago in a professional capacity, and continued to know you several years later. What a compassionate, enduring, loving, and stubborn soul you were! The world lost a bright light when you decided it was time to leave it. However, Heaven and all of its wayward animal souls have gained their biggest caretaker and fan! Sending my love to you and to all of your family.

I met Joan while walking my cat Merlyn. It was love at first sight for both of them. We developed a friendship that I will always cherish and forever miss.
