Obituary of Larry James Brewer
Larry James Brewer, known to his friends as Aharon, was born at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver October 6, 1951. He passed away February 14, 2024 at Penrose Hospital with his wife and children at his side.
Although his family had deep roots in Fremont County, his father was career Navy, and Aharon grew up in the Lake Mary/Sanford, Florida area.
After his stint in the Army and earning an Associates Degree at Seminole Community College, Aharon came back to Colorado to live.
In September of 1983 Aharon drove from Cañon City, Colorado to Twin Falls, Idaho to take a young lady to dinner. They had communicated for a few months by mail and phone calls. November 12, 1983 Aharon married Glenna (Chavah) Brewer and the two were inseperable for the next 40 years. Because he met Glenna through the mail, Aharon made it a point to take pictures at Post Offices in every town they visited on their many road trips. He even set up a Facebook page to tell the stories of these visits.
The couple were proud parents of 4 children: Jim, Lisa, Christine and Adam. The family lived in Cañon City, Colorado Springs and many years in Denver. In Denver, Aharon and Chavah owned and operated with the help of their children, Aharon's Jewish Books and Judaica/Milechai.com.
Chavah's health made them decide to close the book store and web site, so Aharon and his son Adam partnered and created Denver Gold and Silver Exchange dealing in coins, bullion and precious metals. A year after Adam passed in December of 2019, Aharon and Chavah closed the business, bought a home in Florence, Colorado and retired. The lure of the coins and precious metals proved to be too much to ignore so Florence Precious Metals and Coins was born. Aharon operated the shop for almost a year.
January 22, 2024 Aharon had a heart attack which required triple bypass surgery from which he was unable to recover.
Aharon was preceded in death by his mother and father Jim and Rose Brewer and his sister Debbie. In December of 2019 he lost his youngest son and business partner William Adam Jay Brewer.
He is survived by his wife Glenna (Chavah) Brewer and children James Brewer, Lisa Prengler and Christine (Ryan) Newcomb; brother David Brewer, and grandchildren Hailey Prengler, Ethan Prengler, Alexander (AJ) Jones, Mikayla Newcomb and Connor Newcomb.
In Aharon's memory we ask you sit down with family and friends and watch his all-time favorite movie Casa Blanca.
