I have been calling and emailing Batya since early January but got no response. I wish that I had contact information with a family member to learn about her passing in real time - today I typed her name on the internet today and I am saddened that the only description that fit was a mortuary announcement.
I was one of Batya's longtime friends over 50+ years and stayed at her home in October when I was in California. Batya and I shared rooms at many, many astrology conferences over 50 years, and in 2021 we taught two Kepler College courses together on "Astrology and the World's Sacred Literature, East and West". Her knowledge was astounding, not only in Judaism, but other faiths as well. Her years in Japan and other international countries enriched our class with wonderful stories that only Batya could do with her clever wit. I still have the Video recordings of the 10 weeks of Zoom meetings that we taught together. If the family would like copies of them, I could ask permission from Kepler College and I think they would approve, especially as she had been a teacher and Kepler College doner.
I will miss my lifetime buddy Batya and the laughing fits we had together, one upon the other we made a simple statement ridiculous. I haven't had a good belly laugh since last October when I was at Batya's house in Rancho Mirage. Now I will continue reading the mortuary information, and if she is interred in Rancho Mirage, I will visit her this fall when I am again in California.
My love and gratitude to Batya's family -- she brought joy to everyone who knew her -- she got that from her family, no doubt.
