Obituary of Zana S. Goldenberg
Zana Silverman Goldenberg, known affectionately as "Bom Bom", passed away on April 22nd, 2024 (Earth Day as well as Erev Pesach).
Born November 27, 1933 as a 2nd generation Denverite, Zana met her husband Leonard Goldenberg when he was stationed in Denver during his Air Force tour and they married on June 22, 1952, raising 3 children together: Perry Goldenberg, Elise (Dr. Phil) Franklin, and Dr. Wayne Goldenberg.
Zana was also blessed with 4 grandchildren: Cory Franklin, Jordan (Alison) Franklin, Liam (Katryna) Franklin, and Alexia Goldenberg, and recently 1 great-grandchild: Oliver Franklin.
She attended college at the University of Denver for one year but ultimately pursued a path as a nail technician that she loved, working her way up to two career highlights: salon ownership and US Patent US5261872A for a nail correction device.
Zana took amazing care of herself, making sure to walk for exercise daily and was able to continue working up until shy of her 88th birthday!
While she planned to live in her house in Denver for her entire life, she made the decision at 87 years old to sell her house and move into independent living in Denver. But then she made the bold and amazing choice at 88 years old to go the east coast and be near her kids, becoming a New Yorker and living near Wayne in Massapequa.
These past two years became a 2nd lifetime for Zana! She was the happiest that she has ever been in her life by getting to see her 3 kids more often, and being spoiled by Wayne with amazing New York food, daily visits together, and a non-stop supply of love and kisses by the same method as her cherished Bubbe (Sarah Gardenswartz).
Graveside service for Zana will be held on Friday 4/26, 10am at Mt. Nebo Cemetery and live streamed on Feldman Mortuary’s YouTube channel.
Shiva will be held at 4035 S Oneida St Denver, CO 80237 on Friday 4/26 1:00PM - 5:00PM and Sunday 4/28 11:00AM - 3:00PM.
If you would like to honor Zana and/our give support to the family with Kosher for Passover food, Wayne will be coordinating those details on Thu 4/25 morning since everyone was closed for Passover.
**The Shiva in Denver was very meaningful to the family and the shiva in New York has been cancelled. If you want to pay your respects locally in New York, please reach out directly to Wayne. **
