Obituary of Eliot Stuart Fishman

We are sad to announce that Eliot passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, April 29, 2024 after a courageous year-long battle with lung cancer.

Eliot was born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 8, 1950 to Rose Banoff Fishman and Hyman Fishman, who both predeceased him.  He was raised in White Plains, NY. He is survived by his wife, Lauren Miller, his daughters Cynthia Fishman of Denver, and Amanda Fishman (Hoffstaetter), as well as his son-in-law, Fred Hoffstaetter of New Milford, CT.  He is also survived by his sister Joan (Fishman) Cohen, her husband Dr. Lawrence Cohen, and his brother Stanley Fishman, along with several beloved nieces, nephews, and grand-nephews.

Eliot graduated from Hofstra University in 1972 with a degree in Marketing.  He worked for 33 years at Conair Corporation in Old Greenwich, CT as Director of Sales Operations before retiring in 2017.  He lived in Manhattan and Queens, NY and then moved with his family to Danbury, CT in 1988 where he remained until 2019 when he and Lauren moved first to Houston, TX, and then to Denver, CO in 2021.

He loved to travel and was very proud to have visited 49 states and 4 continents, including Australia. Since retiring, he enjoyed going on cruises, including a 52-day cruise to North America, Central America, and Europe, and other cruises to South America and most recently Scandinavia.

Eliot was an avid sports fan and was particularly devoted to the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees.  Even at the end, he drew great joy knowing that his two favorite teams were doing so well this season. He was an adventurous eater and loved trying new things.  The hotter the better!

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eliot’s memory can be made to No Kid Hungry or World Central Kitchen.

Funeral services will be held at Feldman Mortuary, 1673 York Street, Denver on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11am. The service will be streamed at the Feldman Mortuary YouTube Channel. 

Shiva to take place at the home of Lauren Miller (4205 E. 10th Ave #901, Denver, 80220) from 3pm to 6pm on Friday.
