Obituary of Judy Lista
Judith "Judy" (nee. Schmuelevitz) Lista passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lista, her parents, Chaya & Schmuel Schmuelevitz, her sister Ruchama Bar Yehuda and her brother, Yitzhak Schmuelevitz.
Judy and her immediate family escaped Danzig, Germany, prior to the Nazi Occupation and Kristellnacht
She married Jerry Lista (Cymbalista) prior to coming to the United States on September 11, 1959.
Judy attended school in Israel and served as a member of the Israeli Haganah Underground Army prior to Israel becoming a state.
She was a fashion designer and art instructor at ORT Institute in Israel. After her move to the United States, Judy worked at J.C. Penney’s as a sales associate for 15 years.
Judy enjoyed reading, painting and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dave Torres) Lista; Grandmother of Logan, Dylan and Cody; also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service honoring Judy will be held Tuesday, August 6 2024 at 2:00pm, at Golden Hill Cemetery. Service will be livestreamed via Feldman Mortuary's YouTube channel. The family will be observing Shiva privately.
In lieu of flowers, Judy's family requests contributions be made to IsraAID, an organization providing support for displaced communities in Israel.
