Obituary of Carolyn Sampson
Carolyn Sampson passed away peacefully the evening of August 22nd 2024 at the age of 87. Carolyn was born March 5th, 1937, in Sioux City Iowa to Ely and Anne Seff.. Carolyn's family moved to Denver when she was 12 years old. She attended East High School and spent a few years at University of Colorado in Denver.
Carolyn was set up on a blind date with Richard Sampson. After their first date at the Palace Arms restaurant at the Brown Palace Hotel they courted and were married February of 1962. Their love story was one that all admired. Carolyn spent her time being a stay at home mom and always took care of her whole family. Niece Jody Frank considered her a second mom and great niece Julia Frank considered her another grandma.
In 1965 she welcomed Amy into the world as her only child and joy of her life.
In sports she always rooted for all the Denver teams. Her favorite was the Colorado Rockies. She went to every opening day with her daughter Amy for over 20 years. Besides sports she loved to travel and spend time with friends she had for over 50 years.
All who knew Carolyn will deeply miss her smile and kindness.
Survived by her Daughter Amy (David Cooley) Sampson; She is also the Aunt of Jody, Evan, and Julia Frank; Douglas, Eric, and Buzz Sampson.
Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sampson, Parents, Ely and Anne Seff, Sister, Patty Messer and Brother, Jerry Seff.
Graveside service, 11:45, Monday 8/26, at Emanuel Cemetery (within Fairmount Cemetery).
Celebration of life immediately following at La Fogata 5670 E Evans Ave, Denver, CO 80222.
