Obituary of Steven Hall Cramer

Service has been rescheduled for Sunday October 20th, 1:00 pm, Emanuel Cemetery

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Hall Cramer of Denver, CO.  He passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, in Zurich, Switzerland after several years of suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.  He was 74.

Steve was a kind, thoughtful, intelligent and curious man who was a loving partner to his wife of 35 happy and adventurous years, Kathi Surian Cramer, and a devoted father to his beloved son, Danny Cramer.  He will be sorely missed by his sister Susan Kerstein (Stan); nephew Joshua Kerstein (Lauren); niece Jenna Smith (David); grand-nieces Sarah Kerstein, Danielle Kerstein, Stella Smith and Emma Smith; brother-in-law David Surian (Paula) of Sacramento, CA; two Surian nieces, 3 grandnieces and 3 grandnephews.  He was preceded in death by his beloved son Daniel Bernard Cramer, beloved mother Vicki Cramer and beloved father Sam Cramer all from Denver.

A native of Denver, CO, Steve graduated from George Washington High School in 1968 and Brown University in 1972.  He went back to school a few years later in Kansas City, MO, to study accounting and computer science and became a CPA.  He primarily worked as a business and software consultant at Arthur Andersen, JD Edwards, Metaphor, and Eide Bailly among others. His final working gig of about 10 years was his own company, Next Business Systems, in which he consulted and implemented Netsuite software.

Steve was an avid skier with Mary Jane at Winter Park and Steamboat being his favorite places to enjoy the bumps, the powder and trees!  He also loved golf and thought it was cool if he could ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon on one of those sunny Colorado shoulder season days.  He was a huge Broncos fan and frequently criticized the coach staffing and playing decisions as if he knew that it would be a wildly successful team if only they had just followed his suggestions!  Frequent travel, discussing history and politics were among his intellectual passions.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Denver Jewish Day School, Active Minds or Alzheimer’s Association.

Steve was well loved and will be remembered as a kind, generous and intellectual soul with a quirky sense of humor.  May his memory always be a blessing.
