Obituary of Annie Dozoretz

Ann Marie "Annie" Dozoretz, a beloved resident of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family and friends.

Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Annie was a radiant spirit who touched the lives of everyone she met. A passionate learner, Annie earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Quantum Mathematics from the University of Denver. She dedicated her career to education, serving as an accounting, economics, and entrepreneur professor at the Colorado School of Mines and Denver University. She inspired countless students. In addition to teaching, she was a forensic accountant who played a vital role as a consultant for the State of Colorado on Bingo Regulations, and she helped to shape legislation in the gaming industry. She also played a pivotal role in helping the Denver Center of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) develop and implement the Denver Process Control System (DPCS), which improved the accuracy of military payroll accounting for the U.S. Air Force. Annie was also the creative force behind BINGOdocs, where her innovative spirt flourished.

Annie delighted in traveling the world with family and friends. Her heart was big and her compassion extended globally through her worldwide medical trips, where she provided prescription eyeglasses to those in need in Ethiopia. Annie’s love of art was a defining facet of her life from a young age and she kept herself busy with her various artistic endeavors. She discovered her passion for glass fusing later in life, and loved to push creative boundaries. She created stunning glass pieces marked by intricate designs and brilliant colors. She continually sought to expand her skills, often taking courses and participating in workshops. Her remarkable talent earned her a dedicated following among fellow artists and enthusiasts.

Annie was blessed to share her life with her true soulmate, Jerry Dozoretz. Their love story was one of deep connection, mutual respect, and adventure. They complemented each other perfectly-sharing dreams, experiences, and a love for music that led them to countless concerts together. Jerry's unwavering support and love fueled Annie's creative pursuits and ambitions. He was her rock, inspiring her both personally and professionally. Together, they traveled extensively, creating unforgettable memories and strengthening their bond through shared passions. In the face of Jerry's passing, Annie demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, drawing from their profound love to navigate the challenges of life without him. She often spoke of how their connection transcended this world, finding comfort in the belief that he would always be with her in spirit. His legacy of love and support continued to guide her, reminding her of the joy and laughter they shared. Annie was an amazing and loving mother to her daughters.

She took pride in all of their accomplishments and spent a majority of her time with them. She loved to travel the world with her girls. When she wasn’t traveling with them, she could be found playing games and laughing on her patio. She was a devoted aunt, sister, godmother, and friend. Annie is survived by her three daughters, Leah Dozoretz of Aurora, CO; Joelle Dozoretz of Meeker, CO; and adopted daughter Samantha Dozoretz of Aurora, CO; brother Dan Vestecka of Lincoln, NE; along with countless friends and family members who loved her dearly. Annie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Dozoretz; her parents, Walter and June Vestecka; and her parents-in-law, Leo and Elaine Dozoretz.]

Graveside, Tuesday, 10/8 at 1pm at Golden Hill cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made in Annie's honor to Magen David Adom, the emergency response team in Israel. Annie's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of kindness, creativity, and passion will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
