I first met Shelley when my boss at the University of Wyoming took me down to Gallery West and the Frame Plant to purchase a gift for a retiring faculty member. I remember seeing the pride flag in the window and smiled to myself tknowing that this business was visibly an ally to the LGBTQ community. Shelley was someone who had so much fire in her, so much passion for caring about others. I remember when I gave her a new flag as a gift for sponsoring Laramie PrideFest this year, she took down the old one and put the new one up with such excitement. Though I did not know her well, in the time I connected with her over the last couple of years, it was evident that she cared a lot about people and about her community. The Laramie community has lost an incredible person, business owner, ally, and friend. I send my condolences out to Shelley's family and will continue to remember the light she brought to all those she came in contact with, including myself.
