Obituary of Ryan Thomas Hodel
Ryan Thomas Hodel, 45
November 9, 1978, Denver—October 12, 2024, Denver.
Ryan was a tall, slim, handsome man with a life-long love of many types of music. He started learning the guitar in the 6th grade and went on to play many different instruments. He used his prodigious intellect to write and record songs and lyrics. His dry sense of humor and generosity of spirit always brought a smile to those around him. He loved mountain climbing, skiing and snowboarding with his dad, and tried surfing in Hawaii.
Ryan worked in coding and data entry; he was interested in many diverse topics such as quantum physics, philosophy inquiries with his stepdad, and household plumbing. Recent jobs he enjoyed include operating live video equipment for church services and NASCAR races in Dacono, CO.
Ryan attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO, and Colorado University in Boulder, CO. He was a Francophile who studied in France several times and loved to travel.
Ryan struggled with addictions much of his adult life and tragically that is what finally took him.
Ryan is survived by his mother Jeanette Margaret Rockers of Denver, his father Thomas Gilson Hodel of Lakewood, half-brothers Marc and Peter Hodel, and half-sister Kathy (Brian) Nicolson, and his stepdad Barry Collen. He loved his many cousins including Jeremy, Eli, and Caitlin Rockers and many aunts and uncles. He leaves his beloved Bombay cat, Spartacus. He was predeceased by his grandparents James and Dorothy Rockers, of Independence, KS, and Howard and Ruth Hodel of Minneapolis, MN.
Arrangements for a Memorial Service are pending and will be announced at a later date.
