Obituary of Neil R. Rosenberg

Neil R. Rosenberg

March 16, 1950 – January 8, 2025

Neil R. Rosenberg, of Greenvale, New York (and most recently, Littleton, Colorado), passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, surrounded by the love, hands and voices of his beloved family. He was 74 years old.

Born on March 16, 1950, in Queens, New York, Neil grew up in Flushing and attended Francis Lewis High School before graduating from York College. In his early years, he drove a cab in Manhattan, honing an impressive knowledge of the city he loved.

Neil built a successful career in finance, beginning in mail-order advertising before moving on to roles at Advest and Shearson Lehman Brothers. He later joined Dime Savings Bank in Valley Stream and Melville before founding his own financial planning business in Huntington. Known for his dedication and personal care for his clients—many of whom became lifelong friends—Neil had a true passion for stocks, investments, and the market.

Neil was married to his beloved wife and best friend, Noreen, for 48 years. Together they raised three children: Jeanne, Zachary and Anne. His family grew to include son in law John, and daughter in law Lindsay. He was the proud grandfather, affectionately known as "Popsie," to Oliver (15), Devin (11), Daisy (5), Rhys (3), and Roxy (1). Neil also leaves behind his sister Barbara Banner and brother in law Mike. He will be missed by his cherished doggie companion, Moochie.

A lifelong fan of the New York Mets and Jets, Neil also enjoyed classic rock music, concerts, talk radio, movies, reading The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Newsday, taking walks along the Long Beach boardwalk, and planning vacations. He loved a good cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate milkshake. After spending most of his life in New York, he embraced a new adventure in Colorado during his final years.
