Obituary of Scott Alan Mayer
Scott Alan Mayer died peacefully on January 16, 2025. Scott was born on October 27, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign where he received Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Pre-Law.
Loving law, he went on to Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology for his Doctor of Law (J.D.) He participated in various law activities and societies. When hired by the city of Chicago he was known as “the ferret:” finding important documents, records and information no one else noticed. One time, a case brought him before The US Supreme Court in Washington, DC. He practiced many types of law over the years to follow: law departments of corporations, real estate law and civil rights cases. He worked for the United States postal system, law and employment litigations working with the EEOC, MSPB, OSHA, and the US District Court. He was an assistant general counsel in Chicago offices, moving to the Denver offices. He most enjoyed being a civil rights attorney, defending people’s rights!
He married Karen Agrest on August 21, 2014 in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Scott is survived by daughters Marissa Kaplan and Jennifer Dubin, and brother Barry Mayer.
