I cherish having known Zelda since 1971, first as a student at SAIC, then as a fellow co-worker at the school, and thereafter as a friend. Our families formed a life-long bond and we now embrace warm connections that extended from Chicago to Denver and beyond. I will miss her zeal for life, her wit, intuition and compassion.

It was my honor to be Zelda Patt's friend during my student years at the Art Institute (1973-78), during my later years as an employee of the place, during the years after that both before her retirement and after, and during her resettlement to Colorado. She had great kindness, humor, wisdom, patience, tolerance, and a mighty sense of right and wrong. She had to work hard to have a negative opinion of anybody. She had a wonderful stock of anecdotes and an excellent grasp of current affairs. She was a ruthless but amiable competitor in sports and games, and a generous hostess. She lived and died on the best terms she could get, and did much good in the process, and leaves many wonderful memories for us who she left behind. When she retired from SAIC in 1993 there was a party, and one of the drawing professors quipped: "Hasn't she made any enemies in 25 years? Everybody's here!"

I worked with Zelda at SAIC and we became friends... I remember seeing "Annie Hall' with her at the 400. We lost touch but I will always remember her good advice and great smile... she was a heck of a lady!
