Alan was an incredible friend, mentor and human being. Alan was very funny, very smart and full of pragmatic, common sense advice. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton MBA program in 1986 and began working with Alan on PennWharton Club of Colorado events starting in 2000. I learned a lot from working with Alan and I miss him dearly.
Alan's sense of humor was incredible and my mood always brightened after talking with Alan. Alan gave me lots of great career advice and he was an excellent sounding board. We always joked with each other - he called me "Wyatt" after Wyatt Earp and I called him "Doc" after Doc Holliday (Doc Holliday was a Penn alum).
A particularly vivid memory was when I nominated Alan for the University of Pennsylvania's Alumni Award of Merit - and Alan won the award! I went to the Alumni Award of Merit Ceremony with Alan and his family at U-Penn in Philadelphia and had a wonderful time.
Another highlight was when Alan arranged an event for PennWharton Club of Colorado members to attend a University of Colorado vs. University of Pennsylvania basketball game. Alan was friends with the Penn basketball coach and we got to meet the Penn basketball coach, had a party prior to the game and then had fun watching the game.
Alan was a successful businessman, he raised wonderful children, he was a gifted athlete and he helped many Penn alums like me. Heaven just gained a great comedian. Alan - God Bless You for all the joy you brought to my life and the lives of so many others.
Alan - RIP, my friend. Mark Johnson

In all the years I knew Alan, I don't think I ever heard a serious word come out of his mouth. And I mean that as a compliment. Just thinking of Alan makes me smile. He instinctively understood that we only go around once in life, so why not enjoy it?

I had the good fortune of knowing Alan from the first semester of our freshman year at Penn, autumn of 1960. We had a lot of good laughs together then and, fortunately, more recently as a result of shared Class of '64 alumni activities over several years. Alan could always bring a smile to everyone's face in a room, regardless the circumstances. He will be missed by all of his classmates at alumni activities in the years ahead but we will honor his memory with love and respect always. Anna and family, my sincere condolences to you during your time of mourning. Frank Thayer

I feel honored to have known Alan for short period of time as fellow board member of the Cherry Hills North HOA. We only meet once a year and over the past couple years, it was a breath of fresh air to hear Alan's stories and humor about life. I loved his wit and humor. He will be dearly missed by all of us. Sending love to his family. He was a great man. - Coleen Sanders

Alan was one of the best friends that one could have. Whether we traveled, attended events, flipped houses or ate lunch together, or had what seemed like a daily discussion of current events, I enjoyed his humor and his company. Alan will be sorely missed.

Although Alan lived in Colorado, he was a true Pennsylvanian to the core. He did bleed Red and Blue. He was an adopted member of the Kozloff clan and we relished our time together at reunions and on the golf course. We’ll miss you, Alan. RIP.

Although we were in the same class at Penn, we had not met until we did at the local UPenn group here in Denver. Alan was always a great person to talk to and remember the old days at UPenn and memories that we shared of those wonderful years. The things that our class did and places that were favorites on campus. His smile was infectious, you couldn't help but feel good after spending time with Alan.
My condolences to the family of this wonderful man - he will be missed.

55 years ago I started my career at the Annenberg School where Alan was a student. 50 years later I met Alan at a reunion of his classmates. He was a man of many accomplishments I was amazed to learn of, a man full of contagious energy that moved everyone he came in contact with into action, a man eager to bridge academic and practical realms, a man I will not forget. I am shocked he left us so early. Beyond expressing my sincere sympathy to his family, what we can do for him continue his enthusiasm for whatever we do.

Alan was a supportive mentor and friend. He always said, “Another day, another chance.” I share that line often and it always brings out a smile.

One of the greatest people to walk the planet, loved to make everyone happy. I loved walking the golf courses with Alan, all over the country following Ron.
Alan definitely made life better for me and was always there when I need advice.
Thoughts and prayers are with the Family.

This is a terrible shock. I am very sad to hear this. Alan talked with me a few times about his fight with cancer, but he never went into any details. I did not realize how serious it was. He always made it sound like he was going to prevail, and he injected his marvelous wit in every conversation. Penn has lost one of its all-time, most loyal, and dedicated supporters. I send my deepest sympathies to his family of which he was so proud.

Alan was just a "wonderful" guy. I always will remember Alan and his great sense of humor. He usually asked me if I wanted to judge a George Gerbner look-alike contest! Each time he called, I always knew it was Alan by his humorous comments asking for me. Although I cannot share all his humor in this post, we will miss him dearly. Alan was a great friend. We already miss you Alan, even though we talked only a few months ago. You sounded great...we never would have known the end was so near. You kept up everyone's spirits. Jerry and I send our deepest sympathy to Anna and the family.

So saddened by this news. Al was an unforgettable character. While we were at Penn we were acquaintances but as alums we became good friends . He regularly called at dinner time and always had news of our class. When I last spoke with him 2-3 months ago he was upbeat as always. I will miss our chats and his humor. Condolences to his family.

Even with my 40 years working in Denver's Jewish community I didn't know Alan, but I have not read an obituary before that made me wish I'd known the deceased as much. What a legacy. To me, the reader, it sounds like Alan was a true mensch, embodying the best of Jewish tradition's hopes that we truly treat each other as if each one of us matters, that to change one life is to change the world. May good memories comfort those who called him family!
