Obituary of Tobie Rosenberg
Tobie Rosenberg, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher with an incredible passion for life, passed peacefully on January 30, 2021, at the age of 71 in Denver, Colorado with her husband and daughters by her side.
Tobie’s memories live on with her husband, Bob, her daughters, Lisa and Stacey, her grandchildren, Kellan, Raya, Kendall and Julian, her sisters, Linda and Rhoda and her network of her dearly extended family and friends.
She was born in Newark, New Jersey on May 18, 1949 to Eli Horowitz and Laura Krisiloff. She grew up in East Meadow, New York, and spent much of her time with her grandparents, Izzy and Ida Krisiloff, who she adored, in Long Beach, New York. She went to school in Ohio and graduated with an education degree. After college, Tobie moved to Los Angeles where she raised her daughters, taught elementary school and was one of the first teachers in the country to teach an innovative inclusion program for children who were deaf. She and Bob married December 30, 1988. They eventually moved back to the east coast, where she finished her teaching career as a middle school reading teacher in Connecticut. In 2015, Tobie moved to Colorado, to spend her retired years with her grandchildren. Being a grandparent was the most treasured role of her life. These years in Lakewood, Colorado, was where she and Bob found their true home.
Tobie loved life. She was a life-long learner who loved to read, knit and sew, and spent hours in the backyard and patio of every home she owned. One of her favorite places was her condo in Dillon, Colorado, where she spent many summers and enjoyed her grandchildren. She discovered yoga and found incredible joy in the practice. Tobie was very social and had an extensive network of friends. She joined the “Chix with Stix” hiking group when she was in her 60’s. This group of women was where she found her true Colorado community. She volunteered with the Democratic party and at some of her favorite Colorado places including Bear Creek Lake Park and the Lakewood Cultural Center. She was active, involved and thrived in all of her endeavors.
Her funeral service will be held at Golden Hill Cemetery on February 2, 2021 at 11am. In person attendees is reserved for immediate family only. Tobie loved to entertain guests, so all of her additional family and friends are welcome to attend the streamed service available on Feldman Mortuary’s YouTube Channel.
