To Leonard’s family,
He was a great friend and business partner that our family family worked with since 1987. I also appreciated his sense of humor, sometimes I had to process what he said before I would give a reply. He was a very quick wit. I always enjoyed lunch with him at Farmers Inn and he enjoyed their burritos!
Sincere sympathy to you all, Frank, Bonnie, David, Melissa, Alex and Steve Eckhardt

Growing up as Linda’s good friend, I loved being at the Strear home. Irma was the mom with the great sense of humor, the incredible artistic talent, and the cupboards filled with treats that my loving but health conscious mom never allowed in our home. Leonard was always smiling. He was warm. He was funny. He introduced me to turkey pastrami. He let me have a turkey from his farm to dissect and rebuild for a science project. His kindness garnered me an A followed by four years of vegetarianism! The Strear home was filled with so much love, and I was there often. Being there remains one of my fondest memories from my youth. I can still close my eyes and visualize the entire Strear family, the layout of the house, the pool table in the room behind the kitchen, the basement with the best hiding spots. These memories will always remain, and the impact this family had on my life had a beginning but it is without end. I will always remember both Irma and Leonard with respect and much fondness.

Dear Strear Family,
This photo of Leonard reminds me how special is was to me; his smile and his warmth was beautifully spoken about today at the funeral. It brought back many memories of our lives with your parents. What I recall the most are the Break the Fast celebrations with you all and how appreciative my family was that we could be with you all .
We had years of family times with my family and The Strears, being office neighbors and house neighbors with Sid and Dorothy, business friends and social friends. It was always a good memory with laughter and joy.
We bring our childhood memories with us as we age and the connection to you all lives on in our hearts.
Love to you,
Peggy (Gordon) Marks and David Marks

Leonard has always been a great role model, father figure and mentor. He gave generously to the community, was a respected leader, and humble philanthropist. He started taking me to Broncos games when I was 11, and the entire section loved him and Irma and their popcorn and "apple cider." His positive attitude, sense of humor, calm demeanor, thoughtfulness, and youthfulness, will be sorely missed by our family and community. He was a great little brother and wonderful great uncle. Love, Zach, Katie, Luna and Avi Frisch

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the entire Strear family. Leonard was a remarkable and respected man in this community and words alone cannot do justice to the impact he had on his family, friends, and the community. He lived his life with gusto and humility. It was my pleasure to be his Doctor and neighbor for years. His memory will always be with me.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Leonard’s passing. It goes without having to say that his memory will always be a blessing for all that knew him. I am on of those lucky ones! Remembering how he skied into his eighties, loved his beautiful Irma and the family they grew together, loved Colorado, built a thriving business and was adored by his family. He and his children built a legacy on our community which will always be here. Rest In Peace.
Michael Kaufman and family.

I note with extreme sadness the passing of Leonard Strear. A mutual friend introduced me to Leonard twenty years ago and we enjoyed many, many monthly breakfasts at Dozens Restaurant at 13th and Cherokee. I know several of us "regulars" enjoyed Leonard's company at these breakfasts. I fondly remember Leonard's devotion and love for Irma, his kindness, his devotion and his untiring support of Denver Health.

When I first went out on my own in the oil business I needed partners to help fund my deals. I was introduced to Leonard by Sam Pluss (of blessed memory) and he decided to give it a go. After the first investment did well, he was in on every subsequent partnership I put together. He was a great partner and became a friend. I have come to know Michael in more recent years and he shares his fathers great attributes. Julie and I send our condolences to the entire family who were blessed to have him in their lives. What a mensch your dad was -- sharing his hard work and good fortune with the community, always with an impish smile. My father loved him dearly. One of my fond memories is of Buni, your dad, and mine lighting shabbat candles together in a synagogue in Havsna, Cuba. Their ancestors would have been proud of the traditions your parents kept. Sending love and hugs. Wendy Dinner.

Leonard was a true mensch. He always brightened my day at the JCC when we’d discuss the latest book he was reading. He was a fine athlete, a great businessman and a caring philanthropist. May his name be always for a blessing. Men like him are few in number and to be treasured. While we mourn his loss, we must celebrate all the good he did and the joy he brought to so many.Mark and Krista Boscoe
