I met Don in 2000 when I was new to the Chamber of Commerce. He was one of those board members who made an effort to know all of us on the team. He was as interested in us as he was in his peer CEO's. He was hilarious and made every meeting fun and effective. He cared about the work of the leadership foundation and was willing to share his story to leaders coming up the ranks. He would have to be pushed to talk about himself because his natural way to ask about others. But I loved hearing him tell about how he and others built the Rose Community Foundation, so thoughtfully and with great intention. I later got to know Mary Lou and became a follower of her beautiful art. An, in the last decade, we worked together on the HealthONE Board and Quality committee. He has been a wonderful touchstone through the years, someone whom I have delighted in knowing. Someone I won't forget. Maureen McDonald

Dear Mary Lou, Zoey, Bob and Family Members,
What a tremendous loss for your family, the Denver community and beyond. Don was such a soft spoken gentlemen and so effective in all his pursuits. He gave his talents and compassion to so many entities. His place in time and history will be acknowledged for generations to come. You will be in my thoughts of comfort and in my heart as you adjust to this new chapter of life without his physical presence. With deepest sympathy, Beverlee Henry Fullerton

My sincere condolences to all of Don's family. Our friendship of more than 60 years was quite special. Many years ago
I gave Don the honorary title of "Dr. Kortz." This lasted through our last conversation several months ago. I even gave him
a white coat to wear; suggesting he wear it when closing a major real estate deal. I think he may have. We enjoyed laughing at our high school adventures, still indelibly etched in each of our minds. You will be missed, my friend.

I was lucky to have been hired by Don as one of the first staff members of Rose Community Foundation. Don inspired staff to be great, believed that if you never failed you weren't taking enough risks, and was a model of kindness and generosity. I always felt and knew I was supported, that he had my back, and that he expected great things out of me. My saddest day as an employee at any of my career stops was the day that Don announced he'd be leaving Rose and going back into the business world. I missed him for a long time. It was a singular honor to work for and with him. My condolences to his family. Know that I carry only terrific memories of him.
