Obituary of Chad Masters King

On Friday, November 12, 2021, Chad Masters King, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away at the age of 35, after a nearly 3 year battle with brain cancer.

Born June 12, 1986 in Long Beach, CA to Jack and Annette King, Chad moved with his family to Wexford, PA in 1990. Chad graduated from North Allegheny schools, received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University, and his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Colorado at Boulder. In 2018, Chad married Alexis Kirkman and resided in the Denver area with their son, Wells King, who was born on March 29, 2021. Chad is survived by his wife, Alexis Kirkman, son Wells, parents Jack and Annette, sister Danielle Astfalk (John, Madison), and brother Trevor.

As friends and family traveled to Denver during Chad’s final days, many shared their memories with Chad, of trips taken together, mountains skied and climbed, and water sports enjoyed. Chad will be remembered by all who knew him for his witty humor, sincere kindness, and genuine zest for all that life had to offer.

A Celebration of Chad’s Life will be held on January 29 at 2 p.m. at the Manor Vail Lodge. The Celebration of Life will be preceded by a final ski run for Chad down Vail Mountain beginning at 1

p.m. For those wishing to participate in the final ski run, the meeting point is Wildwood Peak (top of Lift 3 - Wildwood Express Lift). The family asks that all attendees be vaccinated.
