Lovely Nevet, so soft and fluttery like a flower that's light enough to sway in the breeze. I'll miss you. I admired and loved your family, your art, your hugs. Rest in peace, and revel in divine beauty now that your Spirit has returned to the Light!
The Minnesota Marshes, Lorie, Ken, and Audrey, send their condolences and big love to you in spirit, and your family.

Last Hanukkah I bought grandma Nevet a pack of Yiddish word magnets for her fridge. I expected her to like them, sure, but they delighted her so much that she couldn't stop pointing at words and sharing her relationship with them. Sarah told me that when they visited her at the hospital she even requested that they were brought to her to arrange and reminisce about.
That same visit, while running errands, we were dropping off some packages at USPS during the peak holiday season. The postal worker shared that she'd work 60 hours that week and was dealing with some really nasty customers. I don't remember exactly what happened, but grandma Nevet started cracking jokes and relating with her so much that she was on her knees cackling by the end of our interaction. We held up a whole line of grumpy customers but the last thing the postal worker did was turn to me and say "I love grandma, grandma rocks."
That happened all the time.
On the flip side, Grandma Nevet was extremely passionate and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She was a tremendous example of someone who could be so delightful and agreeable and still steadfast in her values. I did see her snap a few times, but that reinforced my commitment to our shared values and I appreciate that so much.
These magnets gave me an opportunity to connect with my grandma unlike ever before. I remember that visit so vividly because she showed me books from her childhood, taught me how to sing Yiddish folk songs, and gave me a taste of the humor embedded in so many of those fridge magnets. She was constantly eager to spread joy and I never wanted to leave her house when I was there. Even when I visited her during her last days at the hospital, she was so thrilled to read the silly cards I brought her and talk about art that I remember spending the whole day in that room not wanting to leave. Even in silence she was such a delight to be around.
Grandma Nevet shaped who I am—through a passion for creating and a lighthearted humor that permeated her every interaction. She also gave me my curly hair, and I know her spirit is embodied by all of the family that she's survived by. I can't really imagine a life without her because it always felt like she'd live forever, but in some ways I really think she will. We're all so lucky to have had her.

The last time I saw Nevet she was in attendance at Mandy and Samuel Lupowitz wedding in 2018. Nevet wanted to dance so I took her hand and we twirled on the dance floor. She always had a smile on her face and was fun loving and kind.
A beautiful artist and also a good friend in encouraging my own daughter to pursue art. I am happy that she was surrounded by so many loved ones during her final days.
My condolences to all her family members.

When I think of Nevet I think of her happily singing at Passover and Chanukah! And her reading in Hebrew and then explaining everything. She really brought Judaism into my life.
I see her and Jim walking the beautiful Colorado trails on the many family hikes; with stylish hat and walking stick!
She was a remarkable artist and leaves wonderful legacy in her art which through she will live on generations from now. We are fortunate to have many of her pieces on our walls.
Ripple used to stay her every day during the week. I enjoyed picking Ripple up and talking to Nevet daily year after year.
Nevet was a wonderful person - we all miss her.

I remember Nevet with a smile on my face and Hebrew language on my lips. When my son would get together with Elias, during their School of Rock days, I remember how Nevet's eyes lit up when she found out that I was a native Hebrew speaker. She was always eager to speak Hebrew with me and it never ceased to surprise me to interact in Hebrew in a "Rock and Roll" setting. Her talent-filled artwork also intersected with my life as a social action teacher, as she participated in our Darfur "Tents of Hope" project. I will particularly remember Nevet for her loving relationship with her daughter, Ora, her son in law Shannon and her grandson, Elias, whom I got to know. I will also remember her for her love of Hebrew and her "joie de vivre". May her spirit imbue all of us to live life to its fullest!

We are so saddened by the loss of Nevet. She radiated joy, intelligence, kindness and fun. We first met her as our Hebrew teacher at Temple Sinai. If anyone could make us get up and go to class on a Sunday morning, it was Nevet.
We met Ora at that time, and became clients and friends.
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of someone so special, so warm, so interested in life and everyone she met.
Her memory will always be a blessing.
Our very deepest sympathy.
With love,
Hanna and Mark Shaner

Grandma Nevet was absolutely precious to me. From the time I was 5 years old, she welcomed me into the family with open arms. She taught me so much about what it means to navigate the world with a gentle spirit and a soft heart. Whether she was teaching me how to paint or making the family a giant vat of matzo ball soup, I always felt her love. I’ll always remember hiking as a little girl and seeing Grandma zooming ahead, walking stick in hand, effortlessly climbing the Colorado mountains and leaving us all in the dust! A few years ago I was very excited to tell her about a boy I met (my now-fiancé) and she was so happy for me! In quirky Grandma fashion, she asked “What’s his name and zodiac sign?” Grandma had a deep wisdom about everything from zodiac signs, natural medicine, history, family traditions, delicious food, of course ART, and so much more. I am so grateful to have grown up under the influence of such a sweet and fun lady. I love her always.

Nevet was one of the most kind-hearted and welcoming people I've ever had the opportunity to meet. She invited me into her home for a few wonderful Passover meals and a painting class and through these left me with memories that I cherish dearly. I will miss her very much.

Nevet – a sweet, loving, caring and thoughtful woman. She was blessed with many talents which she kindly shared, like teaching Hebrew, painting, pottery and more. I loved listening to her stories and hearing her interesting perspectives. What an inspiration.
I’ll miss Nevet a lot. It helps me to know that she will be resting in piece now.

Nevet will be missed greatly by my family and I. We spent many holidays and birthdays together with her and the rest of the family. She was our Colorado mom. Always so sweet and loving with everyone around her. I remember the years spent camping and hiking when the kids were all younger. I will miss her calling me “Metuka” (sweetheart in Hebrew). Our hearts are grieving for the family. We love you Nevet. You’re in our heart forever.

My mother was mother to many more than just her children. Friends, students, teachers, also saw her as mother. She loved unconditionally, and shared her love through her art. She opened her arms and her heart to everyone. Please join us in sharing your thoughts and wishes during services and Shiva.
