JoAnn and I met at Regis. She became one of my most influential mentors and my friend. She had such keen insights about people and organizations, which I still use today. She introduced me to systems thinking, and we created courses on that topic, which we both taught. When I left Regis and went to the University of Denver, she was a phone call or a coffee date away from listening to my challenge of the day and offering her sage advice. She was 'that professor", tough, challenging, and would spend hours with students to help them understand concepts and ideas. Students adored her, and hearing stories about all her experiences were invaluable in making a theory or idea come alive.
JoAnn always looked beautiful. She had an impeccable sense of style. Even though she looked amazing, her kindness and wit were apparent, and she was approachable to everyone, regardless of their station in life.
It only took 30 seconds of seeing Chuck and JoAnn together to feel their love and respect for each other. Dinner with them took 3, 4, or 5 hours because of their stories- both were exceptional storytellers and had many to share.
JoAnn was an exceptional lady, and I will never forget her.
