Obituary of Gary Russell Buchanan

On Friday, May 12th, 2023, Gary Russell Buchanan, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at age 66.

Gary was born in Kingman, Kansas on Sept 11, 1956, to Bob and Martha (Milburn) Buchanan. After graduating from Kingman High School in 1975, Gary accepted an athletic track scholarship from the University of Alabama. He received his undergraduate degree in Business from the University of Alabama in 1979. He later obtained his MBA from UC Denver. On December 28, 1979, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lee Schlesener, also of Kingman, Kansas and they remained married for the past 43 years. In 1984, Gary and Nancy moved their family from Alabama to the Denver, Colorado area where he worked in commercial real estate management before creating his own business consulting company, Dorset Square. Gary retired in 2007.

Gary enjoyed participating in high school and college sports, hunting, fishing, reading, traveling, painting, wood working hobbies and spending time with his family.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, their sons Charles Todd (Katelyn) Buchanan of Birmingham, Alabama, Jackson Robert Buchanan of Denver, Colorado, 3 young grandsons, Finnley Robert, Fleming Gray and Charles Theodore, sister Carolyn Parson of Hutchinson, Kansas and family, sister Sharon (Ron) Rush of Kingman, Kansas, nieces Vanessa Rush, Tracy Kifer and nephew Brian Rush.
