Cousin Marion had grace, style and humor. I am happy to say I got to dance with her several times over the last 10 years!
She shared with me her experience of Donora, Pennsylvania. A place so unappealing that Marion's mother told her to threaten her husband with divorce if he didn't take her away from there -- he did and they moved to Denver.
Donora is the last place my grandfather, Daniel Schwartz, lived before leaving the United State to go back to Hungary before World War 1. The descriptions of Donora helped me understand why Daniel left the 'land of opportunity' to head back to Europe --the key clue to something I'd puzzled over for decades.
Marion, is also famous among the kids in our family because at dinner at Mindy's a few years ago I asked her the secret to her longevity. She said: "I eat at McDonald's everyday."
