Obituary of Marion Schwartz
Known for her red lipstick and love of Elizabeth Taylor, Marion Schwartz lived a full life of 99 incredible years. She passed away suddenly on June 18th just four months shy of her 100th birthday.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Marion met her future husband, Sid, while he was in the service. They would move to Denver in order to raise a family and be nearer to his family.
While Sid worked hard supplying meat and groceries to mountain communities, Marion served as a beloved mother to two loving children — Mindy and Marc.
For many years, Mindy and Marc shared the same bedroom until they were unable to tolerate sharing the room with one another and the family was able to build onto their home.
Growing up, the family spent many summers in Atlantic City with Marion’s mother, Sadie, her cousin, Lynn, and her sister, Claire. They would sometimes spend up to a month celebrating the family being together.
Marion was always known as a loving mother and could always be depended on to have food for everyone. She loved having children over to eat and have fun and was regarded as a second mom to many.
And she always encouraged Mindy and Marc to be independent and to do their very best. Marc would go on to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder, and then became a dentist. Mindy, likewise, moved to California to attend nursing school and went on to become an RN and a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist.
As the years went by, Marion had a passion for collecting antiques and continued her interest for many years. She would often visit Mindy in San Francisco and go on buying sprees acquiring even more treasures.
Marion, with the help of Marc, Mindy, and her daughter-in-law, Debby, was able to stay in her home until just recently.
With great sadness, Marion lost her beloved son, Marc, only two months and two days ago.
We remember the life of Marion Schwartz.
And we remember her favorite saying coined by the great Elizabeth Taylor…
“Put on some red lipstick and pull yourself together!”
