Beverly and I, Gene DU BOFF have had a long and wonderful relationship with Alan and Leslie.
When I was doing clinical trials of new medications, Alan joined me to do clinical trials of pediatric medication‘s as well. I recall a couple of my coordinators of those trials “complaining“ to me about how detailed, informed, meticulous and precise ALAN wanted to be. ““he asks so many questions and he wants to know everything.“ I explained that was EXACTLY what we were looking for in doing the best of the best kind of work in the clinical trials so that the us, as the principal investigators would know the most detail about the study and produce the very best work. This comment of mine echoes what we heard repeatedly from daughters and grandchildren today at the graveside service . ALAN would look into a full and complete understanding of anything into which he was going to engage his efforts. He was absolutely willing to share his observations, research efforts, conclusions
and reasons for his conclusions. He was, and will remain always in my mind a great addition to my and our lives. We were able to share in his presence. He was, and his spirit is, such a good buddy, colleague , friend. In our Jewish services, it is basically always said that “they” keep on living through the memories, we, who experience and endure the loss, have about that person. That’s the way it will be for all the rest of my life and of Beverly ’s.
